For all of
you in the States watch out for Roger next month. According to lasvegassun.com
he as well as Brian, Ben Elton AND John Deacon will be there for a
news conference.
VegasBeat - Timothy McDarrah: De Niro
to embrace Queen at Paris (source)
"Robert De Niro is going to play Las Vegas. For one night, at
least. The
Oscar-winning film star will be at Paris Las Vegas on June 27 to make
the official announcement about the Queen musical, "We Will Rock
You," which his Tribeca Productions is co-producing. Previews
start Aug. 14 and a gala red-carpet, Las Vegas premiere is penciled
in for Sept. 8. At the news conference, De Niro will be joined by
Queen members Roger Taylor, Brian May and John Deacon,
Brit scribe Ben Elton (who wrote the original London production) and
producer Jane Rosenthal, De Niro's partner at Tribeca Productions.
"That is pretty much the only day Bob has off until the show
starts previews, and we felt it was important he come to Vegas for
the announcement," according to a source involved in the production.
De Niro is filming "Meet the Fockers" with Ben Stiller,
Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand. The film is a sequel to the 2000
comedy "Meet the Parents." The first news that the show
was coming to Vegas was exclusively reported on this page in October."
And while surfing this website for more news I stumbled over a few
other gossip snippets. Here they are:
Celeb eats - April, 6 (source)
"When Elton
John is in town -- and often when he isn't -- the stars who attend
his Caesars Palace show are making Bradley Ogden the de rigeur destination
for their pre- or post-show supper. Over
the weekend the restaurant fed Sir Elton and his partner, David Furnish,
along with a slew of celebs who attended one of his "Red Piano"
performances. A partial list:
"Will & Grace" star Eric McCormack, Matthew Perry, Drew
Carey and show castmates Diedrich Bader (Oswald) and Kathy Kinney
(Mimi), Martin Short, Tom Green, Kiss frontman Paul Stanley, Victor
Garber (Jack Bristow on "Alias"), Brian May, Roger
Taylor and John Deacon of Queen, former NFL running back
Christian Okoye, "Gilmore Girls" star Lauren Graham and
celeb restaurateur Alan Stillman of Smith & Wollensky fame."
Champions - April 5
(source)
"Queen bandmates Roger Taylor and Brian May
and Brit scribe Ben Elton -- who penned the London musical "We
Will Rock You" -- had lunch Friday at Olives (Bellagio). They
then spent much of the afternoon in the stores along Via Bellagio.
After that they camped out much of the weekend at the Theatre des
Arts at Paris Las Vegas, getting a feel for the Vegas home of "Rock
You," which opens a Vegas production in August..."

Roger and Brian spent 6 days
here in Cologne, Germany, to audition the actors and actresses as
well as the band for the German "We will rock you" show.
The premiere will be on December 12, 2004. The show will be (as Brian
puts it) "in an enormous strange tent-like
structure at the far end of the bridge". In fact this
is called the Musical Dome and it is also just in walking distance
of the beautiful Cologne cathedral. Click here to take a virtual
tour or take a look inside
the Musical Dome. Apart from that they obviously found some time to
relax. They were spotted in an Italian restaurant, the hotel's "Biergarten"
and also met some fans. I hope to add some pictures soon. See also
Brian's
soapbox for a first comment on those final recalls.

Spotlight reported on April 8th, 2004 that preparations are
underway to mount the Latino version of the 46664-concert for the
Nelson Mandela Foundation for AIDS which is planned for the 21st
of August. A delegation from Mandela's organisation has inspected
the town's football ground where the event will be held. Although
the stadium's facilities will have to be amplified, as with the
Rolling Stones' concert last year, there will be further logistical
problems because of the large number of artists appearing. The concert
will be an almost totally Latin music affair with at least 10 groups
from Spain, but dominated by Latin American artists. English speakers
needn't worry too much as legendary British group Queen have already
confirmed their appearance at the event. (Source: brianmay.com).
On Brian's site an Ed's note referring to this article was added:
"Although confirmed to be taking part
in the event, details are not yet available of Queen's exact involvement".

The navigation bar has been edited again. This time a button "Fun
stuff" was added. This section is new and eventually you will
find lots of different things here - things like screensavers, wallpapers,
games, etc. At the moment you only find jokes about drummers here.
I found some of them so hilarious that I could not resist to add
them to the website. It's not a patch on Roger - we all know Roger
is a clever guy (if you don't know about that read his "biography"). |

Just a bit of gossip I stumbled
over: The Sunday Times Rich List 2004 has been published. Roger is
listed at No. 777 with 50 Mill. GBP (last year No. 689 with the same
amount). Here is what they wrote about Roger:
"Queen drummer Taylor, 54, now a solo artist,
still benefits from the rock band's past triumphs as well as the money-spinning
musical We Will Rock You." (source) |

| The following is the official
clarification from Queenonline
regarding the release of the Milton Keynes DVD:
"Further to online reports surrounding
the latest Queen DVD release, QOL can officially confirm that Queen
are currently in production on various DVD projects including the
1982 Milton Keynes concert. The final decision on what will be released
for this Christmas 2004 will be made over the next month."
And here is another snippet of an email from Genesis publication
relating to "30 Flight Rock" (see news: May 1, 2004):
"Further to our email yesterday, we’d like to apologise
for the slight factual error. The Saab gallery is in London, and
it is opposite the Ritz hotel. It is NOT however on The Strand.
The Plattform Space, at the Saab showroom, is at 77 Piccadilly,
London, W1. The writer of the last email has now been locked in
a room with a copy of the London A-Z."
Presently Roger can be heard singing his 'Im In Love With
My Car' as background to a Jaguar car advertisement on American
TV. (source)

as an excellent new picture from the backstage door of the Dominion
Theatre on April 17, 2004 (see Close
Encounters. Thanks to Rien for sending it and to Catherine and
Steven for letting me use it!). And also thanks to Rien a picture
of the Smile album is now available in the Discography.

Finally some news about upcoming
projects! These news are kindly donated by Paul. Thank you! (To visit
his website please click here)
When Roger and Brian were in Moscow last month Paul had a chance to
ask Mr. Jim Beach a few questions and he was kind enough to answer.
Paul asked him about 46664 studio tracks. Mr. Beach said that Roger
and Brian are working on 5 tracks at the moment for the upcoming 46664
studio album! This means of course that there are some tracks we did
not hear until now.
Then Paul asked him if there would be new Queen album in the future.
Mr. Beach's answer was that there won't be any new album until they
have not finished all the work that comes with the musical. But he
did say that Roger and Brian definitely WILL record a new album (The
only question is when?).
Also Mr. Beach mentioned three new tracks with Freddie's vocals from
the middle 80's that are unknown to the public. He added that Roger
and Brian will record the backing tracks and the tracks are meant
to be released soon...
And there is a new DVD on the horizon: October will see the release
of the full Milton Keynes concert. |

| This
is a snippet of an email I received yesterday for those people in
the UK that want to see some of Mick Rock's pictures:
"We are delighted to announce a large
exhibition of photos of rock icons in the heart of London. Thirty
Flight Rock (TFR) will open on 13th May and continue until 2nd June
at Saab's Plattform space at 77 Piccadilly, London W1 almost opposite
The Ritz.
Photos from 30 years of our books will be shown, featuring The Beatles,
Stones, Queen, The Who, Dylan, Lennon, Bowie, Marley and Hendrix.
There will also be photos from our modern history of Liverpool FC,
This Is Anfield."
