Las Vegas Fan Club Meeting
Jacky will be on holidays from 25th Augst until September 2nd. So
if you are a US fan club member who would like a ticket for the
fan club's "Pre Show Reception" then you will have to
phone Val (00 44 20 8392 2800) to secure your ticket or fax (00
44 20 8878 6900) her with a return fax number and your card details,
she can then confirm that you HAVE a ticket or let you know straight
away if the event is already sold out. If you email Jacky while
she is on holidays then you might be disappointed if the meeting
is sold out in the meantime, and you won't know until Jacky is back!
For details of this meeting please visit the fanclub's website.
It's rumoured that "there is a possibility
(by no means definite) that a couple of special guests might call
in and say hello briefly."

Less than 4 weeks to go until
WWRY opens in Vegas
The previews have been successful
and Brian put a photo of the cast on his website.
Reviewjournal.com published an article called "Rock in a Hard
Place". Roger, never tired of saying how much he hates musicals,
said: "I grew up loathing musical theater.
Men in tights, bursting into song and
jumping around. I just hated it." Even
the generally well-received Broadway version of "The Who's Tommy"
bothered him. "I think it got too arty," Taylor says. "('We
Will Rock You') sounds great and it is about rock 'n' roll. Tommy'
is rock 'n' roll trying to escape what it is."

Roger on VH1 online news
The grand US debut of Queen's rock and roll musical We Will Rock You
is about a month away, and the band is hoping to replicate the success
they've had with the Robert-DeNiro-produced show in other places around
the globe. Queen's Roger Taylor says it's thanks to one universal
language that it's done so well in Spain, The UK - and hopefully the
US, too. "It really fits in well and it'll
make people laugh, I think. So it's quite weird, it takes up a lot
of time, bringing it to different countries, different cultures, different
jokes, that's a difficult bit. The only thing that is truly transcends
the country gap is the music really, which is lucky really."
Speaking of lucky, Roger Taylor was the only member of Queen who was
spared in a recent Q Magazine "rock list." According to
the British magazine, he's among "Nine Men That Have Dressed
As Women and Looked Good At It." As for the rest of Queen, they
fall into the list of "Nine Men That Have Dressed As Women And
Not Pulled It Off."
Nice going, Roger! And apologies to Brian May and John Deacon and
the late Freddie Mercury. (source)
News on forthcoming releases
August 17th sees the release of the official "We Will Rock You"
edition of the band's "Greatest Hits" marking the September
8th premiere of the hit musical at Paris Las Vegas. You can pre-order
your copy on Amazon.com.
See Brian's
website for details of the tracklisting. The album is entirely
revamped including new re-mastering by Justin Shirley Smith, new packaging
featuring a classic Snowden band photo, previously unreleased photos
by Mick Rock, new liner notes by members Brian May and Roger Taylor
along with journalists Greg Brooks and Mac Randall, plus two exclusive
live bonus tracks from the band's DVD -- "Tie Your Mother Down"
(originally a single from the band's 1976 album "A Day at the
Races") and a version of the August 1981 recording, "Under
Pressure," originally co-written with David Bowie and recorded
at Mountain Studios in Montreux, Switzerland. All this plus the rare
single version of "I'm In Love With My Car" (as heard in
this summer's Jaguar campaign.) (source)
Hollywood records announced on their website that November 2nd
is the tentative U.S. release date of the new audio album "Command
Performance Milton Keynes 1982" and the "On Fire At The
Bowl" DVD. |

| 46664 LATINO POSTPONED
(official statement)
46664 Concerts is very disappointed to have been informed by Luis
Alvarez, the promoter of the planned concert in Benidorm, 46664
Latino, that the event has been postponed. (source)
So sadly the concert is not going to happen as planned on August
21st. According to Brian "the City of
Benidorm had withdrawn their financial support, whatever their reasons.
(...) Beyond this, I know that all our team will not rest until
the concert is re-scheduled, perhaps in a different city."

I am so sorry for all of you who already booked flights, tickets
and accommodation and those who put so much work into it...
