WWRY Cologne
There was a small article in my local newspaper this week (Koelner Stadtanzeiger, 21st September). It basically says that whilst being in Las Vegas Roger and Brian met with Thomas Gottschalk (very popular TV moderator im Germany) and German Musical producer Michael Brenner. Roger and Brian agreed to take part in his TV show "Wetten, dass" on December 11th in Nuernberg together with the cast and perform some exerpts of the show. They are also trying to persuade Robert de Niro (co-producer) to come with them. You can see pictures of the Cologne theatre on Brian's website or go to the theatre's website.

I stumbled over a lenghty review of the show. You can read it here.

Roger said: “We hadn’t seen the footage for years, but when we looked at it we couldn’t believe how good it was, we were on fire”. The DVD will be released on October 25th on EMI/Parlophone. The 2 CD set of this show will be released the same day.
Queenonline also runs a competition at the moment. You can win a copy of Made in Heaven signed by Roger and Brian.

Hello out there. I exchanged the available downloads. There are now two new audio interviews (one from 1977, the other one from 2003) available. And there's a new video to watch. It's a quite short interview (as well) but you might like it.

And you can play the slider puzzle in the games section with a new picture. Enjoy!

Jen offered a link to some streaming videos on Brian's website. Unfortunately only the last clip showed about 1 second of Roger playing at the after show party. Click on the picture on the left to see the video. (Warning: The quality is, well, lousy but better than nothing. I edited out the newsreader to make the clip shorter and easier to download. To download the clip right-click and say "save target as ....").

Please also check out queenonline.com for a written message from Roger "reporting from the US of A!" Sounds like a lot of fun and stress!

I just could not resist and uploaded another picture. This time I sneaked it from Paul Crook's website. Paul plays guitar in the Vegas band. Here's what he said about the picture: "9/9/04: This photo has an incredible story behind it. It signifies the greatest musical experience for me to date. John Miceli and I were in a room jamming with Brian May, Roger Taylor and Steve Lukather. I actually had tears in my eyes when Brian started the feedback for STONE COLD CRAZY. Roger then started his famous clicking beat.... 1, 2, 3 .... Go!!!!"

This setlist is taken from the official Glenn Hughes website who played with Roger and Brian (among others) at the after show party of the WWRY premiere in Las Vegas: Glenn performed with Brian May, Roger Taylor, Steve Vai, Nuno Betten-court and Steve Lukather the following songs: Tie Your Mother Down, The Show Must Go On, Don't Stop Me Now, Stone Cold Crazy*, Rock'n'Roll**, Johnny B Good** and With A Little Help From My Friends** (* Glenn on vocals and bass, ** Glenn on bass).
According to lasvegassun.com Roger and Brian "and a host of musical guests -- delivered a blazing 50-minute set that sent shock waves through the 2,000 or so guests. "It has been a long time since since we rocked and rolled," shouted an ebullient Taylor before he performed a raucous version of the Led Zeppelin classic "Rock and Roll."

And I stumbled over a nice set of new pictures from this party. Have a look at them by clicking here.

Las Vegas Premiere!
The big night finally arrived and it seemed to have been a blast according to queenonline.com. The city Mayor Oscar Goodman declared the day Queen's Day in Las Vegas! At the aftershow party Roger and Brian played some Queen classic and rock'n roll standards and were joined by Glenn Hughes (ex-Trapeze and Deep Purple) Meat Loaf, Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) and Steve Luthaker in a Classic Rock all star jam! Also attending the premiere were Ben Elton and Robert De Niro.

Roger and Brian were also inducted into the prestigious Hollywood Rock Walk during the post-show party, as they imprinted their hands in cement. The handprints and signatures of Queen will reside in Los Angeles beside such equally accomplished musicians as Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Cash, Aerosmith, Carlos Santana and The Ramones, among many others. A special "In Memory Of" plaque will also be placed in cement, to pay homage to the late, great Freddie Mercury. (source)

Not really news on Roger but on his infamous "tiger skin trousers" (see picture below): The auction has just closed and this peace of memorabilia has been sold for the substantial amount of £2.551,00/EUR 3.758,71. Speechless? So am I...
If you have not lost your words over this amount of money you are most welcome to leave a comment.

Vegas pre-show reception

Jacky and Val have managed to get a few more tickets for this event, if you are interested in attending then you will have to meet Jacky at the box office of the Paris Theatre from 10 til 11am on September 7th to get your tickets! (source)

Where is Roger?

Again in Las Vegas working with Brian and the band and cast to get everything right for the grand US debut of the musical. Roger and Brian have also been spotted watching the show "Zumanity".

Roger and Brian playing in Moscow?
More news on this rumour from queenconcerts.com: The gig is said to be 45 minutes long and the cheapest ticket costs $ 1000...

After this "news" you might want to spend a few GBP/USD/Euros "less": Roger's infamous "Tiger skin trousers" are offered on ebay! "The label states that they were bought from a shop called MOTT at 24 Kensington Church St W8. They also have a small hole in the crotch?! Apart from that they are in perfect condition." Current bid is £311,00/Euro 460,05. The item comes with a letter of authenticity from the fan club office at Queen Productions which is signed by Jack Gunn (now Smith) who runs the Official Fan Club. The auction ends on 06.09.04, 18:46:00 MESZ. Happy bidding!
The Wire Daisies
The debut album is released on 20th September 2004 and to celebrate the Wire Daisies are giving away a silver iPod Mini pre-loaded with all eleven tracks. (source: The Wire Daisies' newsletter)

I added a new interview or better transcript of 50 questions and answers from two fan club magazines. And there is a new video and audio download available.

P.S. There won't be any update this weekend because my computer will be upgraded. I should be back online sometime next week, hopefully in time to gather all news from the grand US opening.
