46664 SA
Honestly, the webcast last night was a mess because only 4 of the
tracks that were played were made available on the internet. Full
setlist was Tie Your Mother Down, Can't Get Enough
Of Your Love, I Want To Break Free, Fat Bottomed Girls, Say It's Not
True (B-Stage, Roger Taylor on lead vocal), Too Much Love
Will Kill You (feat. Katie Melua), Hammer To Fall (Slow Version,
Brian May on lead vocal intro), A Kind Of Magic, Feel Like Making
Love, Radio Ga Ga (Roger Taylor on lead vocal), Crazy Little Thing
Called Love, The Show Must Go On, All Right Now, We Will Rock
You and We Are The Champions (feat.African Childrens Choir).
Songs written in bold were those that were broadcasted via internet.
You can read a full review of the concert on Thomas' weblog.
And thanks to Rien
you can download the video here
(190 MB).
I also stumbled over a few new pics from Friday's photocall
and the concert itself.

Gates expected to open shortly
for 46664 concert
"The gates for the 46664 concert at Fancourt
at George in the Southern Cape are expected to open in just over an
hour. People are already queuing. Nelson Mandela, the former president,
and international and local performers will arrive at the venue in
a police-led convoy. The line-up includes, Will Smith, India Arie,
Brian May and Roger Taylor of Queen, Mafikizolo and many more. The
concert is expected to raise R10 million for the fight against Aids.
The show will kick-off with local unknown performers. Mandela is expected
to address the crowd of 20 000 people. Big business and VIPS's, who
have bought tents in the open air arena, are already streaming in
to take their seats. Local media have dubbed the spectacular as the
event of the year." (source)
To watch the concert on the internet launch the 46664 minisite for
the webcast
that starts from 6 pm. To hear all the news from the rehearsals, the
photocall with Nelson Mandela, Roger and Brian's visit to Sabine Plattner's
Children and Family Care Centre in George and to see some great pictures

46664 SA - Webstream and
other times
Stage takes shape and Annie Lennox rehearses
It has been 33 °C here in George today and the stage is now taking
shape. The side of stage scrims have now been added revealing the
smiling image of Mandela on the left and a diagonal 46664 logo on
the other. The artists have now arrived and are preparing for their
final warm ups. It is 7pm here in South Africa and Annie Lennox has
just finished her final practise. She and her ever so tight band ripped
through handful of Annie's solo hits with superb results...a highlight
of Saturday night surely. Tomorrow morning sees Queen + Paul
Rodgers step up to the stage for their final rehearsal. India.Arie,
Katie Melua and Will Smith run through later in the day. Look out
for images and footage right here. (source)

Queen + Paul Rodgers in rehearsals
The following is from Jacky
who was lucky to see Queen + Paul Rodgers in rehearsals on Thursday
at Bray Studios. This is what she said: "I
can't give anything away, I don't want to spoil the excitement and
anticipation you must all be feeling, but I have to say... wow Paul
Rodgers can sing! He's also a really lovely chap! Spike and Jamie
fit in seamlessly, as would be expected, and Danny is an excellent
bass player and a nice chap. Brian and Roger are both looking good
(Roger wasn't feeling too good with a cold) and are very much looking
forward to getting back on the road! The band are sounding wonderful
(and with Trip Khalaf back in the sound hotseat we would expect no
less!) and the show is going to LOOK wonderful - in true Queen style!"

Queen Day on Capital Gold
If you missed the interviews from yesterday at Capital Gold you

Some of the information given during the interviews was that some
of Paul Rodgers' Songs to be played are "All Right Now",
"Can't Get Enough Of Your Love" and "Feel Like Makin'
Love". David Jensen (Capital Gold) said that on this tour you
can hear some new Queen songs! (source) |

46664 Arctic
At last, our prayers have been answered – easy listening warbler
Katie Melua and Queen will perform together. We always said she looked
like a Brian May tribute act. According to the Star, the 20-year-old
will play at Nelson Mandela’s Aids benefit concert in South
Africa next Saturday, as will Annie Lennox. "I grew up in Georgia
listening to Queen because my uncles always played their records,”
blabbed Katie, making the boys feel 100. Brian May, Roger Taylor and
Free frontman Paul Rogers will attempt not to play too loud so the
little songbird can be heard. (source)

46664 South Africa
I emailed the TV station ZDF that broadcasted the 46664-concert in
Cape Town in November 2003 and asked if they intended to broadcast
the upcoming concert in Fancourt as well. Their answer was that at
the moment there are no plans to broadcast the concert live or at
a later date. |

New tour date in the Netherlands!
This message from Hannie (Dutch

The following is from Paul Rodgers website: "Do
to the overwhelming fan response to the "Queen + Paul Rodgers"
tour, Paul will not perform with his solo band in 2005. We sincerely
thank all of Paul's loyal fans." Two new dates for May
have been added

Queen
Day on Friday, 11th March
The following text is from Capital Gold's website. So make sure you
are tuning in!
"Capital gold will be holding a Queen Day
ahead of some very exciting Queen news. We can't give you any more
details right now, but tune in on Friday for more! We're so excitied
ahead of Friday's Queen Day, but we're not allowed to tell you what
it is! All we can tell you is that it's brilliant news and we'll be
giving away loads of amazing Queen prizes throughout the day."
(source).
QOL published that "this feature which
includes new interviews with Brian, Roger and Paul will run on David
Jensen's lunchtime show (10am - 1pm) and will be backed up with a
3-hour Queen Rock Special that evening, including a live concert special
compiled from the band's live recordings." (source) |

Contrary to what QOL said about
releasing pictures and even videos from the tour rehearsals it seems
to be unlikely according to Brian's recent soapbox
entry... |
