Q + PR - First
show in Japan
There are confirmed reports of Roger singing "I Was Born To Love
You" at the Tokyo show tonight. Reportedly, he was quite charming.
Also confirmed, "Teo Torriate" WAS definitely included in
the set. Those songe were very moving, as was Brian’s guitar
playing of "Sakura" (Thank you, Sarah!).
Some pictures from this first show in Japan at the Saitama Arena are
here.

Roger and Paul
Rodgers Speak Out on VH1 Classic
NEW YORK, Oct. 21 /PRNewswire/ - Roger Taylor and Paul Rodgers of
Queen stop by VH1 Classic on Sunday, October 23 (10 am and 10 pm ET)
and chat with Amy Scott about Freddie Mercury, why they are now performing
together and their new CD and DVD "Return of the Champions."
Roger Taylor says Paul Rodgers enhances what Queen is now and isn't
replacing Freddie Mercury: "I think Paul's
vocals have added to our sound. In a way, they've given us more. We
did actually come from the blues, although [we] might not sound like
that all the time ... He's added that blues edge to this big world
of sound that Brian and I kick up with our other guys. It's given
a different sort of slant to a lot of our material. And he does have
the range to cover a lot of Freddie's notes because Freddie had a
tremendous range. And he's Paul Rodgers, he's not trying to be Freddie
Mercury, and I wish people would just understand that we're not doing
this to cash in on anything. We're not going out there with somebody
pretending to be Freddie Mercury. You know what's the point of that?
We're going out there, playing our songs, and Paul's songs as well
- he's got some great songs. We are what we are now, you know, we're
not what we were then. Although we do a lot of our old material, obviously,
'cause really it's ours ... We're just going up, playing our songs,
and it's a great show. And it rocks like hell. And we're very proud
of it ... Paul is great to come back with. He's one of our all-time
favorites. Certainly one of Freddie's favorite singers ever. And we
used to listen to him before we ever made a record." (click

On Brianmay.com you can download
Wednesday's interview (4 parts). It appears that they did not broadcast
the first 10-15 minutes of the interview with Roger, Brian and Paul
on that night. The
on-line affiliates people appeared to be listening to didn't get their
live feed going until a few questions had been asked by listeners.
If you have the complete interview or are able to record the first
15 minutes (10 pm Pacific tonight) please get in touch with Brian's
webmistress Jen at brianmay.com@clara.co.uk. |

Roger at Foo
Fighters gig at Continental Airlines Arena
Roger accepted an invitation from the Foo Fighters to join them on
stage in the encore to their show last night at Continental Airlines
Arena, East Rutherford, NJ. Roger took up position at the drum kit
for a roasting version of 'Tie Your Mother Down' for which Dave Grohl
did the vocals. Grohl finished the encore with 'Monkey Wrench'. Foo
Fighters are on tour with Weezer, who opened the show and included
hits such as 'Beverly Hills', inspired by 'We Will Rock You'. Roger
returns to the same stadium on Sunday with fellow Queen member, Brian
May, and Paul Rodgers. (source) |

New Album?
Well, here’s
Queen drummer, Roger Taylor...
"I think really that’s what we’re
trying to decide at the moment. I think Brian and I just starting
to write again and it’d be nice, I think what we have to do
is to make a record that stands or falls, well, that stands despite
who makes that record. You
know, it’s, so I think we just got to write the right stuff
and come up with something really extraordinary. And I think if we
had that spark, we’d then have the impetus to finish an album,
yeah. I think it would be a very nice thing to do.” (source) |
