Queen
stars join Hawkins on Wilson track
Queen stars Brian May and Roger Taylor joined the Foo Fighters'
Taylor Hawkins on a tribute to late The Beach Boys drummer Dennis
Wilson. Drummer Hawkins was drafted in to provide vocals on Holy
Man, which will feature on an updated version of Wilson's 1977 acclaimed
solo album Pacific Ocean Blue. And Hawkins has been joined by May
and Taylor who also wanted to pay tribute to the star, who died
in 1983. May insists it was an opportunity he couldn't turn down.
He says, "I got inspired. It was
a song that Dennis had begun shortly before he died but never finished.
The whole track spoke to me like a poem. I wanted to do my bit to
realise it to its full potential, so the whole thing now has a subtle
Queen overtone." (source).
Edit: Unfortunately the track was not submitted in time for
inclusion on the re-release of Wilson’s 1977 album Pacific
Ocean Blue. However, the song will be included on the re-release,
only it will just feature Hawkins. The track featuring Taylor, Brian
and Roger might be released on a later date. |
